The Red Planet’s surface has been visited by eight NASA spacecraft. The ninth will be the first that includes gathering Mars samples for future return to Earth.
NASA is about to put a rover to the test in Antarctica, and it’s unlike any robot the agency has ever shot into space.
After an extensive review process and passing a major development milestone, NASA is ready to proceed with final design and construction of its next Mars rover, currently targeted to launch in summer of 2020 and arrive on the Red Planet in February 2021.
Particularly fascinating is the surface color and horizon, appearing more similar to what we see on Earth compared to many of the deep red images we have presented in the past where the red Martian atmosphere dominates.
