The whistleblower and former CIA employee said he searched the depths of classified databases to find out once and for all whether the American government was hiding evidence of extraterrestrial life.

Much to the likely dismay of Area 51 stormers, he concluded that the conspiracy theories are not true: US authorities are not hiding aliens.

Snowden spoke of his secret research during an interview with comedian Joe Rogan for his popular ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ podcast.

“If we are hiding them – I had ridiculous access to the networks of the NSA, CIA, military, all these groups – I couldn’t find anything,” he told his host.

“If it’s hidden, and it could be hidden, it’s hidden really damn well even from people on the inside,” Snowden added.

The former NSA contractor offers further details on his access to his country’s most closely held secrets in his recent memoir ‘Permanent record’.

In the book he confirms: “For the record, as far as I could tell, aliens have never contacted Earth, or at least they haven’t contacted US intelligence.”

The whistleblower has also confirmed that the 1959 moon landing really did happen (NASA)

He debunks other popular conspiracy theories in the memoir, writing: “Yes, man really did land on the moon. And Climate change is real.”

The ex-CIA employee, famous for leaking highly classified information in 2013, now lives in exile in Moscow, but is still prominent figure in the international public eye.

Asked by Rogan why people continue to crave conspiracy theories, he answered: “Everybody wants to believe in conspiracy theories because it helps life make sense.

“It helps us believe that somebody is in control, that somebody is calling the shots.”
