A MYSTERIOUS jellyfish-shaped object lit up the night sky over Kazan and Russian World Cup city of Nizhny Novgorod on Sunday and stunned onlookers.
Residents in Kazan were taken by surprise as they captured shocking footage of a bright glowing object light up the sky.
The event caused a stir among onlookers who can be heard in the footage shouting “it’s something weird” as the jellyfish-shaped object travels through the sky.
The bizarre display was visible from the cities of Kazan to Nizhny Novgorod, where England play in the Russian World Cup on June 24.
The strange object streaking across the sky spread confusion among bystanders on social media.

The bizarre light show was described by some as a giant UFO in the shape of a stingray.
Social media user Andrey wrote: “Is that a rocket, a fireball or a UFO over Nizhny Novgorod? Talk to me comrades, I’m worried!”
Another posted: “I’ve seen alien life and it looks like a stingray.”
The creepy footage has been explained by Russian space officials, who confirmed the light streak was a Russian Soyuz 2.1.b rocket.
The event was the result of the rocket launch from Plesetsk Cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region on Russia.
The rocket was launched on Sunday at 12:46am Moscow time (21:46 GMT) from the Plesetsk test launch site.
The satellite is be part of Russia’s Global Navigation system.
Military officials confirmed a Fregat upper stage rocket safely delivered the space system into a targetted orbit.
