UFO sightings are nothing new across the country, but one in particular that happened in the skies over New Jersey is considered to be one of the most credible in modern history.
The Carteret sighting, on July 14, 2001 is listed by history.com as one of the top 5 most credible sightings in the modern era of UFO reporting. according to the article, a V formation of orange and yellow lights was seen over the New Jersey Turnpike near Carteret.
Among the witnesses was the Lt. Daniel Tarrant of the Carteret Police Department. Th UFO was visible for about fifteen minutes and was witnessed by people all over the metropolitan area.
According to the UFO Hunters website, there were 15 calls to authorities about the sighting as well as an estimated 75 vehicles pulled over on the Turnpike to witness the sighting.
This incident is far from the only New Jersey UFO. The National UFO Reporting Center says that there have been over 2200 UFO sighting reported in the Garden State, dating back to the earliest report, in 1930, according to app.com.
