It’s the age-old question: Are we alone out there? Someone’s answer to that phrase is sparking conversation on the streets of Cape Coral.
A black and white car with the label “UFO Response Unit” on the back has been seen roaming Cape Coral streets; mainly Veterans Memorial Parkway.
It’s not every day you get to see a UFO Response Unit in action. But it sure has made its mark on those who have caught a glimpse of it.
“About two months ago, I saw it in the WalMart parking lot,” said Emilee Harding of Cape Coral.
Harding is open to the idea of life off Earth.
“You never know. We won’t know until we find out the actual truth…until there’s actually one that comes forward,” said Harding.
She’s also a fan of the UFO Response Unit.
“I think it’s really cool. I think it’s something different. It makes people laugh and smile out of the blue when they could be having a bad day,” said Harding.
The UFO Response Team website has pictures of a car similar to the ones seen in the Cape. On their homepage, it says they have been in operation for nearly ten years and are based in four states.
The quirky car seems to be a similar model as some older police cars in the area. It also has a bar of lights on top, making some Cape Coral residents say it could cause some trouble.
“I would say it’s scary,” said Cecilia Herron of Cape Coral. “It’s scary because you think it’s really a cop, and maybe it’s somebody joking with it.”
Others say they like the car’s uniqueness and ingenuity.
“If he’s not pulling people over, I don’t think there’s an issue with it,” said Harding.
The car has been seen around Cape Coral for the past two months. We tried to find the owner. But no one seems to know who drives it — leaving the UFO Response Unit as much a mystery as the ones it responds to.
