March 2016 is proving to be a prolific month to discover new Near Earth Asteroids. SpaceWeather.com is a site that tracks all the newly discovered Near Earth Asteroids and all of the known Near Earth Asteroids that have ever been discovered.
As of March 6, 2016 there were 1682 potentially hazardous asteroids that come close to Earth’s orbit around the Sun. It is the hope of the scientists that keep track of such events that there will be a way to determine if any future Asteroid wants to make Earth its new home. Of course everyone currently on the planet is cheering for these devoted astronomers that they will be ever vigilant.
